Many of you have asked us how to behave during an assessment center evaluation. It is a fact that it is difficult to prepare for this particular day of professional situations. However, in general, there are some behaviors to avoid. So relax and follow the guide, Apostrof reveals the secrets of a successful Assessment Center!

The Manager who does too much

In a managerial situation, try to find the right balance between your desire to satisfy your team and your objectives to be met. Avoid unfulfilled promises and/or simplistic action plans that make you lose credibility.

Moreover, even in a difficult situation, try to remain positive without falling into idealism: it is a question of not transmitting your gloom to your entire team, of remaining realistic while giving your employees energy.

The Salesman who knows everything

In a sales negotiation situation, don’t let your ego blind you. Even if you think you are the best, you must put yourself in the shoes of your prospect or client. And to get to know the other person, nothing is better than letting them express themselves!

A negotiation is rarely won with a “one-shot” attitude, so don’t hesitate to bet on the long term. Do not let your emotions overwhelm you, but rather show emotional intelligence in order to step back and react objectively to the situations you encounter.

The Fearful Collaborator

Whatever type of evaluation you do, remember your objectives and the objectives of the exercise. Use some of your time to determine which guidelines you should not deviate from, but also to consider which ones you might bypass if they conflict with the priorities of the case you are studying and then simulating.

Although you should focus on the moment, it is also important to remember that an Assessment Center can help you to unlock your potential. So don’t be afraid to take measured risks to experience other facets of your professional personality. Indeed, if you have ambitions to become a manager, now is the time to prove yourself!

And you were authentic?

Finally, don’t try to wear a suit that doesn’t fit, whether it’s too big or too small. The Apostrof team advises you to be yourself: be authentic and straightforward, it can only be appreciated by all.

Remember also that the Assessment Centre is closely related to the notion of the Development Center. This means that the day is fully yours to take full advantage of in terms of future development, to boost your career regardless of how you feel about the “success or otherwise” of the day’s exercises.

About the Assessment Center

The Assessment or Development Center are methodologies that use a professional situation. The objective is to carry out a precise diagnosis of the strengths and areas for improvement of a candidate or employee.

In the context of recruitment, this stage enables the company to advise on a suitable integration plan for the individual’s personality and skills. Also, having a global vision of talent is essential to prepare a new organisation within a company. In the case of internal mobility, the assessment includes specific recommendations on a development plan.
