The industry by AHLSTROM MUNKSJO from yesterday to today

Ahlstrom was founded in 1851 in Finland. The company has trading, shipping and sawmill activities. The Munksjö paper mill was founded in 1862 in Sweden. Both companies have roots in the forestry industry, but in the first decades both have developed into diversified conglomerates. In early 2000, both companies began to refocus on fibres.

In 2017, Ahlstrom and Munksjö merged to become a global leader in fibre-based materials. With customers worldwide and factories globally, Ahlstrom-Munksjö makes smart objects from fibres covering many industries.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö‘s activities include filter materials, non-stick liners, food and beverage processing materials, decorative papers, abrasive and tape media. The company also produces electrotechnical paper, fibreglass materials, medical fibre materials and diagnostic solutions. Finally, Ahlstrom-Munksjö offers a wide range of speciality papers for industry and the consumer.
