Talent management in the Caribbean
To set the stage: the Caribbean is really huge. It includes 23 sovereign states, and 18 dependencies of 4 sovereign states. We met Jeremy FRANCIS, our pirate of the Caribbean of talent management who was happy to describe his work and to talk to us about his local context.
Historically, diplomas and skills could not compete with a personal network and recommendations in this part of the world. So, at the start, the concept of assessment or development centre was not very well-known locally. And even if this approach was used, for recruitment or internal promotion, its scope was often limited. However, over the years, habits have changed.
Little by little, objective assessment methods have increased in importance in the Caribbean. And all this, thanks to the benefits of the concept itself. The approach does indeed bring real impartiality to the recruitment process, as does a very reliable diagnosis when recommending or implementing a corporate talent development strategy.
Jeremy FRANCIS and his teams endeavour to tell the structures that they help about the benefits of assessment centre methodology. They talk about the process as a tool and an approach, while demonstrating the result of this method: multiplying the chances of successful selection, and optimising talent development programmes. The uppermost aim of our local talent management experts is to provide optimum assistance for local companies as they grow, and to contribute to developing the economic and cultural space of the Caribbean.
Who is Jeremy FRANCIS?
Jeremy FRANCIS is the Managing Director of Beyond Consulting Limited (BCL), a company specialising in psychometric assessments and assessment & development centre methods. They help organisations with the process of recruitment and managerial skill development. BCL was founded in 2009 and is located in Trinidad and Tobago. All the consultants and trainers are professionals in psychometric tests and assessment & development centre methods. Jeremy FRANCIS obtained a degree in psychology and sociology in 2000 from the University of the West Indies (UWI). He then went on to obtain a diploma in Human Resource Management in 2003. Trained in running psychometric tests and providing feedback on them by the British Psychological Society, Jeremy FRANCIS is also a qualified assessor, designer and pilot of assessment & development centre. He has been a certified coach since 2013 (Centre for Coaching, ILM). Jeremy FRANCIS was the only representative of the Caribbean and Central and South American at the International Conference.
