Have you been targeted by French recruiters?

Reading Time of Article: 4 min

It’s a paradox that is difficult to explain or understand, but Senior Managers and Executives are being actively sought. With an unemployment rate below the national average, the job market in the Rhône-Alpes region (in France) remains buoyant mainly due to dynamic export, IT, automotive and science sectors looking for qualified, experienced executives. Therefore, 82% of the executives interviewed by CADREO-REGIONJOB[1] had already been approached by headhunting firms between one and three times a year on average. But not all executives are equal when it comes to headhunting. Female executives are contacted less often on average than their male counterparts. A third of male executives who had already been approached were approached more than five times in one year, whereas one in two female executives who had already been approached (54%) were approached at most twice in a year. Which are the most sought-after profiles, then? Following a persistent shortage of commercial executives, now it’s the turn of engineers.

An IT degree is the key to unlocking the job market

Not only will an IT degree means that you can find a job quickly, but the job package (grade, pay, etc.) will also be better, according to APEC[2]More than 9 out of 10 IT graduates are on permanent contracts, which is more than half as much again as the average (59%). Moreover, 93% of them are on managerial grades, compared with 62% on average. Finally, half of them earn more than €34,000, which is 16% above the average pay of graduates overall.

Engineers in the automotive sector benefit from the economic upturn

Following a slight upturn in the automotive sector, recruitment among parts manufacturers is taking off again, from supply to logistics. Method, quality and QHSE (quality, health, safety and environment), but also logistics and supply chain engineers are therefore very highly sought after.

Life sciences engineers

With the advent of new molecules and new treatments, laboratories are changing and many biotech companies around Lyon (France) are looking to expand. On 20 November 2016, the 10-big historic industrial groups in ‘Chemical Valley’ signed a partnership agreement. They plan to establish new activities on the 60 hectares of land available and create 300 jobs – a sizeable commitment[3].
